They did it AGAIN!!!
Yes the BBMHA Midget LL Black players did it again...had 9 skaters, 1 goalie and came out on the winning side!!  You ask why the big deal with 9 skaters, isn't that a short bench...not for this team, we usually go with 7 skaters.

The game was at home in Blyth against Zurich.  We had our record 9 skaters and of course our 1 goalie.  This game played out a little different as it appeared that both teams came out to play hockey and the scoring was going to be tougher, as their were no goals scored in the first period.  Both these goalies had their work cut out for them.

After a few attempts, finally Drew Van Wyk was able to get the puck past the goalie in the second period after passes came his way from Avery McArter and Jacob Roth.  To keep the trend going Avery passed to Logan Finlayson (Finner) for the second point of the game.  Four minutes later this same duo produced another point giving us a 3 to 0 lead.  Twenty seconds later Carson Richmond received a pass from Jacob changing the score to 4 - 1.  It was a very back and forth match at this point in the game.  Not to be outdone or left behind, Avery took a pass from Finner and Connor Bridge to give us his first goal of the game and fifth of the game.  Connor...aka Sem seen this method and decided it was his turn to score after getting a pass from Drew and Finner.  Wow...this line has been busy and are really getting their groove!  The lone goal scored in the third period was by Finner and assisted by Carson.

Trevor DeCorte played a great game in net.  He was always keeping his eye on the puck, communicating with his teammates on what was going on behind them and working just as hard to ensure the Crusaders came out with a win.

Every single one of these boys put in a lot of ice time and effort in each and every game.  With few skaters and lots of game to play, we as a coaching staff are truly grateful for these boys dedication, sportsmanship and consistent effort on the ice.  It is not easy to play a good game of hockey when the player numbers are low and penalty time means that much more skating.

Keep up the great work boys and know that we enjoy being a part of your time in hockey.
