A game of consistent passing and the lucky suit....
Our Crusaders hosted the Mt. Forest Rams in Blyth on Monday night and it was an eventful game to watch.

The first period was a busy time.  Bryce Shortreed and Thymen VanerPloeg were working hard on defense as the Rams tried to get closer to scoring.  Two lines of skaters kept them busy making good changes throughout the entire match.  Scoring started at 6:56 minutes when Brett McCutcheon picked up a pass from Kurtis Marks and found the empty space over the goalie's glove hand.  A tight area.  Keeping up the momentum and less than 3 minutes later Brett made the goal posts sing when his slap shot gave he and his team their second point.  During this same period Jackson Hallahan and Kurtis Marks both had great shots.

Second period was full of the same excitement.  We watched as the team worked on their defense to defense passing thus giving the forwards time to set up for further work and continue their back checking.  Only 35 seconds into this period Brett scored his hat trick goal and the team's third point after getting a pass from Kurtis and Jake Bromley.  Less than 6 minutes later Brett buried another goal after working many rebounds and fumbles in front of the opposition's net.  Kurtis was there to work up the assist again.  Finishing the scoring in this period of play came only a couple of minutes later when once again Brett buried the puck that Kurtis passed over.  After 2 periods and 25 minutes of play Brett has added 5 goals to his stats and Kurtis has added 4 assists.  This line of players are one to be reckoned with.  The Rams weren't going down without a fight as they scored 2 goals in this time slot.  Proving that anything is possible and no game is over until the last buzzer sounds.

After ice resurfacing and a break for both teams the third period worked up to be similar of the one earlier.  Approximately half way through Brett and Ava Strome worked hard in the corner and were able to pass the puck out to the open where Jake was waiting for his chance on net.  It proved to work as this would give the Crusaders their sixth goal.  Only four minutes later things changed around a bit when Ava used her stick handling skills to move the puck to Brett who kept in control for a pass to Kurtis and he was able to put one in his stats as a goal.  After many shots on net our last goal was a team effort with Brett passing to Jake who kept over to the side of the net and found an empty area.

Brett added 5 goals and 3 assists to his roster, he was involved in every point on the Crusaders side of the scoreboard.  Great work Brett!!!  None of that could be accomplished without the help of his teammates.  All game they worked out their passing and retrieving skills.  With multiple penalty kills and power plays our Crusaders were kept busy.

Another great game of hockey and Trevor sported his lucky snowman suit.  This may be the new PeeWee Rep trend.  A couple more games in regular season than Christmas break on the horizon.  Come out and cheer on the team :)
