Game #3 with Huron-Bruce Blizzards
Huron Bruce Blizzards met us in Blyth for the last of our three game competition.  In typical PeeWee Rep Crusader fashion it was a close game of back and forth.

Scoring could have started early for the oppostion but TJ Groves, our goalie, made a phenomenal routine of movements to keep the puck out of his net.  He kept his focus on the job at hand and came away with a great save.  This would dictate the tempo for the rest of the game.  With a lot of action in our end it was a busy time for our defensive crew...Carson Bromley, Bryce Shortreed, Shea Cox and Landyn Hallahan.  This crew worked well with their forwards...Connor Dale, Jake Bromley, Ava Strome, Luke Fisher, Brett McCutcheon, Kurtis Marks and Jackson Hallahan.  It wasn't until 2:22 in the first that our Crusaders logged the first point of the match.  Ava worked the puck down the ice, keeping it under her control and found the open space to pass it over to Brett.  He found open space on the top right corner for a bar down point.  A great upper hand move.

The second period was one of a lot of defensive performances. The opposition made few shots on net as the pressure was consistant by our defensive gang.  Ava had a great breakaway during a time of penalty killing, she came close to counting another point.  In this same period Brett was also busy fighting for puck control, during a seperate penalty kill.  Many battles at the boards and continued shots on net kept the Crusaders very busy.

After a much needed break the Reps didn't look back.  With quick shifts and another team breakaway by Brett and Ava, the action was nail biting.  Every member showed great hustle, blocked shots when it was needed and helped TJ work his position.  The coaching staff took advantage of being only one goal down when they emptied the net and put out another player.  Many battles were had near the opposition's net but we were just not able to work the puck past the goal line.

This would be a great precursor to Goderich's Young Canada Week tournament starting Friday March 8th.  Good luck in Goderich and keep up the great work!!!
