Playoff series, game #1 with Huron-Bruce Blizzard
After a couple days of heavy winds and snow accumulation the PeeWee Rep Crusaders forged ahead as they traveled to Ripley for the first of three games.

With a full bench and a sharpness to play hockey, this team once again put their best skate forward for another great match of hockey.

The beginning period was one of our domination.  With the Crusaders starting the scoring after only 19 seconds of play.  Brett McCutcheon worked open a pass to Kurtis Marks who than turned the puck over to Jake Bromley for the first point of the match.  It proved to be the only goal for both teams in the first period.  It was a welcome way to start a game.

Halfway through the second period things changed when the Huron-Bruce Blizzards scored their first goal causing a tie game.  It was a match of back and forth action.  A lot of offensive work and plays made by the Crusaders kept the opposition on their toes.  In turn our defensive crew had to keep their heads up and eye on the play as goalie Hayden Lee was also a busy participant.

The third period remained scoreless after many shots on both nets.  With the audience on the edge of their seats and a game that could go either way, a sudden victory overtime would be needed to determine the winner.  In a 10 minute time slot, the Huron-Bruce Blizzards capitalized on a power play situation at 3:10 when they snuck the puck past our goal line to win the game.

Ending a game in overtime, win or not, shows the hard work and determination had by our Crusaders.  Everyone played hard, skated to their fullest and worked the plays taught in practise.  With a few extra players from our AP group, it is turning out to be a good squad of athletes.  Keep up the great work team and we look forward to another match against the Blizzards on home ice in Blyth on Feb 27th!!!
