Bantam Reps Start on Right Note
It looked like the booming tunes from the dressing room had the boys awake for the opening game of their season. The boys came out firing on all cylinders, peppering the Hanover goalie with shot after shot. Finally, near the end of the first, Quinton Sjaarda finished off a rush by Dustin Pennington by grabbing the rebound and putting it in the empty cage.
The boys did a great job of limiting Hanover's chances through the whole game but Dalton Carey was still called upon to make some great saves in the 2nd and 3rd periods to keep us ahead. The Hanover goalie was outstanding, not letting the game get out of hand, even when we had to kill a couple penalties, he was called upon for some of his best saves.
After Hanover clanged the post behind Dalton with 3 minutes left in the 3rd, our boys poured on the pressure and Quinton knocked in another one with 1:18 left, tipping a shot from Conner Rodger at the point. This only spurred the boys on with Josh Van Soest scoring, from Wyatt Ducharme at 32 seconds to seal the deal.
It was great to see all of the boys from Blyth, Brussels and Wingham come together and play a strong and unselfish game!
