Close Series for Atom LL
This past week Blyth Brussels Atom LL had a 3 game series against Monkton. The first game was in Blyth with the team down by 3 goals in the third they came out and scored 1 by Jason Wilts, assisted by Jonathon Vincent and Reece Sparling. Although the team lost it was a great effort.
The second game was held in Monkton with an edge of your seat game. With a scoreless first period and down by 1 in the second, Ben Jacklin shoved one in the net with a pass from John Nesbit and Jason Wilts. The game was all tied up until the opposing team got one past Joe Jacklin. With dying seconds left and no goalie, Blyth Brussels had 6 players on the ice, shot the puck, but the buzzer beat the puck to the net.
The team traveled back to Monkton for the 3rd and final game for the parents to witness another edge of your seat game. Josh Plunkett took the puck from the face off and traveled the ice to slap it in the net unassisted, getting on the scoreboard first. Monkton came back and scored 2 to take the lead. Blyth Brussels was not done yet as Jason Wilts put one in the net from Keldon Pawitch. With it all tied up Josh Plunkett and Jason Wilts passed the puck to Greg McDonald who slapped the puck right through the goalie to take the lead. With only seconds left on the clock Monkton managed to put one past Joe to once again tie up the game. The game went into 10 minute overtime but both teams could not get one past the pads, so the game remained a tie. Great team play boys, what a way to end the year!
