December off to a great start for the Bantam Rep!
The Bantam Rep team have given the fans some exciting hockey to watch in the first 2 weeks of December.

November came to a close with a one day tournament in Durham.  The team had lots of heart but couldn't manage a win.  Hopes were high for December!

The team travelled to Moncton, December 5th and from the opening minutes to the final seconds, our Blyth fans were not disappointed.  The boys showed great teamwork and speed and their efforts paid off with a 3-1 lead at the end of the first. Moncton added one in the second, but Blyth started the 3rd with a slim lead and the determination to expand on it.  The final period was all Blyth, showing great passing and shooting skills, they put 3 more by the Moncton goaltender before the final buzzer.  This 6-2 win was well earned and just the thing the team needed after a tough November.

Two nights later Blyth hosted Ripley. The visiting team came out quickly and got on the board first.  Blyth took the rest of the period to get settled in but still kept Ripley's lead to just 1.  Blyth picked up their game in the 2nd with 3 goals (Spencer Stevenson, Mike VanWyk, and Nathan Plunkett), and Ripley added 2 more keeping the game tied as they started the 3rd.  It was fast and furious in the 3rd with great defensive plays and lots of shots on net.  Blyth put 3 more past Ripley (Robbie Gordon, Stevenson, and Mike VanWyk), and ended up with the 6-4 win.

Mitchell travelled to Blyth on Sunday, December 13th.  Blyth scored (Mike VanWyk) close to the end of the first and Mitchell followed with a goal in the final 3 seconds of the period. Blyth's game was picking up speed in the 2nd, the boys were checking and passing well and those shots on net paid off with 2 finding their way in (Plunkett, and Mike VanWyk) before the end of the 2nd.  Even though Blyth seemed to run out of steam in the 3rd, it looked as if they were going to hang on to the lead.  Unfortunately, tensions were mounting on both sides and penalties had to be served. Blyth goaltender, Kennan McDonald impressed the crowd with an amazing save partway through the 3rd. With 2 minutes left in the game however, Mitchell put one past him to tie the game.  Blyth tried hard to get that goal back in the final minute but couldn't get it done and had to settle for the tie.

It's been a pretty good start to December for these Bantam Reps. Seaforth will travel to Blyth, December 21st at 7:30 pm.
