Blyth Battles Brussels Bantams
The Blyth Bantam's hosted their neighbours from Brussels on Monday night.
Both teams came to play a challenging game. Brussels would open the scoring in the 1st with a pair of goals. With 1.47 minutes to go, Blyth's Mike VanWyk would bring the game to within 1 to finish the 1st down by 1. Blyth's VanWyk would then add his 2nd to the scoresheet at the 8:00 minute mark to tie the game at 2. Wes Thompson would add another in the 2nd to take a 3-2 lead. Brussels didn't quit and tied the game back up 20 seconds later. Blyth would retake the lead at the 3 minute mark with a goal by Rob Gordon. Once again Brussels would tie the game at the end of the 2nd. Everybody came out to play the 3rd and Blyth's Spencer Stevenson would be the first to break the tie with a goal at the 12.39 mark. This would be the final goal of the game, as both team's goaltenders stopped several attempt's. Blyth would take the game with a final score of 5-4.
