Game 7 - Another new rival - WINGHAM
Excitement was in the dressing room air as we dressed for another fast paced contest.  We had not faced Wingham before and were chomping at the bit to get on the ice.

As soon as the puck dropped we knew we were in for a high speed battle.  But we were up to the challenge.  For the first 3 shifts we swapped chances but could not find the back of the net.  It wasn't until the next shift that the speed of the Wingham forwards paid off.  They sent 3 quick goals past our goalie to take the advantage.

We did not get disheartened and pushed the attack for the entire next shift.  Our girl line attacked their end like crazy.  Great passing and shooting offered several glorious scoring opportunities.  Michaela rang one off the post.  Emily was denied from close in and Clarissa slid one across the crease, missing by an inch.  This line had two stellar defensemen that held the puck deep in the opposition end.  Zac and Luke would not allow the puck to leave the Wingham end.  But stilll no goal for the dogs.

Two more scoreless shifts went by with no scoring from either team.  Unfortunately for us we were tiring from the speed of Wingham and allowed 3 more goals on the next 3 shifts.  If not for the excellent defense and goal keeping of Connor, Kyle and Luke things would have been much worse.

With only one shift remaining we were in trouble, but not down on enthusiasm.  Kelden stepped up to the face-off dot -- grinned at his opponent and promptly won the draw.  Connor grabbed the puck and whipped a crisp pass to a speeding Tanner on the far boards.  Tanner controlled the puck over Wingham's blue line, drawing the defense to him before sending a pass to a wide open Snowden in front.  Snowden made no mistake and buried a heavy shot to the back of Wingham's net before a surprised goalie could react.

The comeback had begun.  This final shift was fast paced with furious action in front of the Wingham goalie, who made save after spectacular save.  We could not get another shot past the goalie no matter how we tried.
It was a great game but a defeat for the dogs.  We had a great time and had lots of good things to tell our parents when they came into the dressing room.

We are looking forward to the return of our hard nosed winger Reece for the next game.

Coach Rob is very impressed with the teamwork and determination displayed by his players.
