Game 4 - WOW
We travelled to Ripley to take on a new opponent.  The team was nervous, but upbeat.  They couldn't wait to get back on the ice for a game.  Despite our record to date the team is having a lot of fun and learning a lot.  I hope the parents are having as much fun as the kids are.  As a coach I see improvement, effort and smiles........ I could ask for nothing more.

Before the drop of the puck Connor came to me and said we have 100% chance of winning today coach.  He was right.
From the first face off we showed a lot of jump and desire.  We raced down the ice immediately and had the first shot on goal, saved by a hot Ripley goalie.  We kept up the pressure and it paid off.  Luke sent a pass to Zac who then spotted a wide open Tanner who converted a nice one-timer for a goal.  We had the lead, a position we were not used to, and never gave it up.
The next shift showed me that Connor meant business with his guarantee.  Kelden raced down the wing and sent a crisp pass to Reece who sent a rocket at the goalie.  The save was made but Connor jumped on the loose puck and buried it in the back of the net for a 2 to 0 lead.
The next minute saw more action in the Ripley end resulting in another goal for Tanner set up by Connor and Luke.
The next shift saw my PINK line of Clarissa, Michaela and Emily with Zac and Kelden on defence.  The girls filled the net on this shift.  Seconds after the puck dropped Zac grabbed the puck and zoomed into the Ripley end.  A quick pass found Kelden in the clear.  He drew their defence to him and sent a nice pass to Clarissa in front of the net.  She looked up to see an open corner and fired a shot past their netminder.  The puck dropped at center again and this time Michaela controlled the face-off and sent a pass to Emily who stick handled over Ripley's blue line.  With a heads up play she sent a hard pass to Clarissa who grabbed the puck at the hash marks, took two strides and sent another rocket past the unsuspecting Ripley goalie.  With only a minute left in this shift we saw ourselves again at center ice.  In an unbelievable shift we again controlled the puck.  The draw was won by Michaela back to Kelden on our blue line.  He spotted Clarissa speeding up the left wing and fed her a nifty pass.  Clarissa stepped over the blue line and immediately sent a pass to Michaela for a clear breakaway from the top of their blue line.  Michaela charged towards the Ripley goalie, who was sick of seeing this line by now, faked a shot to the stick side and slipped a nice backhander past the goalie.  A nice way to end an incredible shift.
This goal seemed to spark the Ripley team and for the next few shifts took control of the game.  They peppered our poor goalie with a lot of shots.  If not for the stellar performance of our goalies, Zac, Reece and Luke we may not have lasted this storm with the lead.  However, the Ripley team did mount a small comeback during this barage by netting their only 2 goals of the contest.
With only two shifts remaining in the game it was our turn to grab the momentum and finish this for good.  Again with Michaela at center we controlled the next face-off.  Zac grabbed the puck and sent a breakaway pass to Emily.  Emily stepped over the blue line and sent a rocket at the net.  The shot was turned aside by the Ripley goalie but a determined Tanner gobbled up the rebound and buried his third of the game.  WOW a hat trick.......... Great going.  But he wasn,t done yet.  At center ice after the goal we set up for the drop of the puck.  With a nifty move Michaela sent a pass immediately to Emily who spotted Tanner headed for the Ripley end and fired him a pass.  Tanner grabbed the pass at the blue line and split the defence for a clear cut breakaway.  This sniper was not going to miss today.  As Tanner reached the hash marks he unleased a blistering drive that bulged the back of the net.  His fourth of the game.
As time was running out we sent our final shift on the ice.  The action was hectic in our zone and we would not let Ripley score again.  Reece grabbed a rebound in front of our net and sent a beautiful breakout pass to Kelden at our blue line.  Kelden then lead a rush into their zone drawing many Ripley players to him.  As I thought he was about to lose the puck he sent an incredible pass to a wide open Clarissa in front of the Ripley net.  Clarissa grabbed the puck, stick handled a couple of times to confuse the goalie and burried a wrist shot past the glove hand.  WOW again that makes for her hat trick goal........... it was incredible to have two hat tricks in one game.
The final buzzer sounded and Blyth looked at the scoreboard to see their first victory of the season.
GREAT EFFORT EVERYONE.
We missed the speed and skill of Snowden and Kyle this game and look forward to them joining us for our next big game.
Finally for our team we will always remember:
It is my puck.
We skate with our knees bent
and our heads up
but most important of all we are here to have lots of      FUN !!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks
Coach Rob
