Tyke Jr. - Game 3
On January 5, 2008 the Tyke Jr. team hosted their new rivals from Milverton and put up a very good effort.  The previous game was controlled by Milverton and our team wanted to prove they could compete with any team in the league.  It was decided that Milverton would not have an easy game in our barn.

From the first face-off to the end of the game our team was ferocious on the puck and did not let Milverton have an easy time playing the game.  It wasn't until the 8 minute mark of a 45 minute game that Milverton was able to put one past our goalie.  The goal tending duties are split among all of our players and they all played extremely well.  Milverton put several shots our way but we would not let any in until the first goal was on a rebound.

We knew this was our game and we kept forcing the play and increasing our confidence with each shift.  The smiling faces of our players as they go on and come off the ice makes the coaching staff very happy and proud of our players.

After the first goal by Milverton we controlled the puck for the next 2 shifts and peppered their goalie with several good shots.  Michaela, Tanner, Snowden, and Emily fired several shots at the net without success.  The Milverton goalie was spectacular and kept the score at 1 to 0. The next shift saw Milverton take control and slip a couple past our keeper for a 3 to 0 advantage.  This only made our team more determined to play hard.  The next shift was all ours.  We kept it in their end for the entire shift and finally the hard work payed off.  Clarissa took a crisp pass from Zack, she relayed a neat pass to Tanner who slipped a sneaky shot past the Milverton goalie to make the score 3 to 1.

The next two shifts saw Milverton mount a tremendous attack.  We had Luc in net and Connor and Reece on defense at this time.  It was a good thing too because they shut the door.  The defense refused to allow any second chances on a rebound and Luc stoned Milverton each time they shot.  The second shift saw a change in goalies and defense but Milverton still could not penetrate our defense. Kyle was fierce in his defense of his goalie, not allowing the other team a clear shot on net.

The pressure however was too much and on the final shift of the game Milverton was able to sneak two late goals past our exhausted goalie and defense.  Thus ending an exciting and well played game 5 to 1 for Milverton. We were missing one of our great players and hope to see Kelden at our next game to help shore up our team speed. The coaching staff was extremely pleased with the effort put up by every player in this game.

Keep up the good work and remember:
Skate with your knees bent, your head up
It is your puck so get it back if you lose it
and MOST IMPORTANTLY --   HAVE LOTS OF FUN !!!!!!!!
