Bantam Bulldogs Down 2 Games
Submitted By pchalmers on Tuesday, February 5, 2008
The Blyth Bantams opened their WOAA final series against Drayton on February 2 in Blyth, it was a high scoring affair through two periods with several lead changes during the first two periods of play.

It was tied 4-4 heading into the final period with Drayton coming out strong and the Dogs could not keep up with Drayton winning the third period by a score of 4-0 and winning the game 8-4, for a 1 game lead in the best of five series. Scoring for the Bulldogs and Game 1 were Adam Cronin with 3 and Tyler Stevenson picking up the other, assists went to John Lecomte with 2, Tyler Black with 2, Matt Popp with one and also picking up one was Stevenson.

Game 2 was held in Drayton on Feb 3, it was a very close checking game as was the score with the teams tied at 2 going into the third period. With some tough luck early in the third Drayton scored two powerplay goals to make it 4-2, but just minutes later the Bulldogs scored to make it 4-3. With under 10 minutes left to play Drayton would grab the two goal lead back with, however the Bulldogs would score with 4 minutes left in the third to make a 5-4 game. Blyth continued to put the pressure on, with the goalie pulled the Bulldogs came within inches of tieing the game, but when the buzzer went, the final score was 5-4 Drayton. Scoring for the Bulldogs was Cronin with 2, Stevenson with one as well as Popp with one, picking up the assists were Lecomte with 2, Cronin with one, Stevenson with one, and Matt Chalmers picking up the other.

The Bulldogs are currently down 2 games in the best of five series but they feel it is still a long way from being over with game 3 going Wednesday, Feb 6 at 8:30 in Drayton.  Game 4, if necessary, is in Blyth Thursday, Feb 7 at 7:00. Game five, if necessary, will be in Drayton on Sunday, Feb 10 at 4:30.
