A lot of passing and some great goal scoring...
Kincardine traveled south to Blyth for the midget LL north vs south game.  Weather was cooperative and both teams put up a great clean battle on the ice.  The BBMHA Crusaders goalie, Jarron Thompson gave the team a shut out performance, while the skaters found 5 goals.

Nothing short of continuous shooting on the net and looking for the open player can all be attributed to the end result of this game.  Scoring did not begin until 8 1/2 minutes into the first period when Jared Shearer shared the puck with Logan Finlayson for a deep net goal.  Approximately 3 minutes later, our AP player, Lucas (aka Teddy), Townsend seen an opportunity to wrist shot the puck in the open corner after passing from line mates Brett Glousher and Jeff Gordon.  This is Teddy's first goal as a midget player.  Expectations are high for a repeat performance next game Teddy!!

In the second period Drew VanWyk, from defense, took the chance and skated from our end alone and to bury the puck over the Kincardine goalie's shoulder.  This would be our only goal of the second period.  Many shots were had but not able to get them past the crease.

After an ice flood and small rest for both teams, Drew took a pass from Brock Weber to put another point on the home side of the scoreboard.  Drew's shots are hard and he had a couple that I am sure left a few marks on shine pads of the Kincardine skaters.  With a little over 5 minutes of play left in the game, Brett Glousher, who stayed out of the penalty box ALL GAME!!! ;), took a pass from Drew and gave his team the last of a handful of points.

Coach Drew has been away for a few days, so Vern Bridge stepped up to help as coach on the bench and at last weeks practise.  I am sure that I am not out of line when I give a HUGE thanks for taking care of these boys.  Practise times have slim turn out on a good day, but Vern made the best of it and those boys came off having had a good work out and teaching drills.  Proof that it takes a village to raise a child.  Thanks Vern!!

This is the end of regular season play.  Play off schedule will be out after Tuesday February 9th, as this is when our teams will meet to determine who and when we play.  Currently we are in 3rd spot just behind BCH and Howick.  Great work boys.  This will make for an interesting playoff season.

Keep an eye on the website for further information and it is practise as usual on Wed. Feb. 9th in Brussels at 7:30 pm.  See you boys than!
