Short bench...but not short on effort!!
The BBMHA midget LL team went to Hensall for another match.  With players at this age and exams just around the corner, it is always a surprise how many skaters Coach Drew will get to work with.

We ended up with 8 skaters and 1 goalie.  A lot of discussion in the change room ahead of game time was being had as how to best execute this match.  It was decided to have 2 defense-man with 2 lines of forwards.  Keeping pucks out of the net was Trevor DeCorte's job.

Drew VanWyk and Jeremy Wilts had the task of defense.  In a game of 45 minute ice time, those boys only sat approx 5 minutes total and played an amazing game!!  They skated smart and played well together.  When it was time for them to take a break, our wingman, Lucas..aka Teddy Townsend stepped in to play.  He played hard and stopped many shots, knowing that pain would ensue.

Brock Weber, Brett Glousher, Teddy, Jared Shearer, Connor Bridge and yes our other goalie, Jarron Thompson played forward.  With only 3 penalties all game, it was easy to keep lines common.

Our first goal came late in the first period when Brett took a pass from Connor who received the puck from Jared.  It was a great moral boost as we were already down by one at this point.  The end of the first period had BCH 2 - BBMHA 1.  No problem!

In the second period Jarron Thompson made his "player debut" with a goal that gave us only one point away from a tie.  BCH got their third goal early in the second which put us 2 points down, so the timing was excellent.  Jarron took passes from both defense boys and seized the chance.

After a break to flood the ice, BBMHA boys were not going to give up, being down only 1 goal, there was light at the end of the tunnel and it was bright.  Only 3 minutes into the third period Brock took a pass from Teddy and Jared to tie up the game.  With 4 minutes left to play Brett, who started the scoring, ended with the game winner after a great pass from Jeremy.

What a game!!!   The score was close, players worked hard and our goalie kept the shots out of the net.  Never underestimate the power of numbers...it is all about determination and the promise of pizza from the coach to win a game.  :)
