The Howson Mills Bantam Rep Crusaders traveled to Goderich to take on the Sailors Monday night, and skated away with a 3-3 tie.
The Crusaders came out a little sluggish after playing such a fast paced game the previous night, and staked Goderich to a 1-0 lead.
After falling behind 2-0 in second period the Crusaders started to skate, and go to the net a little harder. The Crusaders buzzed the Goderich net and were eventually able to put one by the goalie. Jacob Gulutzen dug for the puck in the Goderich end and passed the puck out in front of the net. The Goderich goalie tried to corral the puck, but big Tanner Boven was parked in front and kept jabbing at the puck, eventually putting the puck over the goal like and tying the game at one.
The Crusader's second goal was scored on a nice shot from Cole Zwep. Ryan Jacklin corralled the puck in the Crusader zone and passed it up to Zwep who was able to get behind the Goderich defence. Zwep skated down the right wing boards and shot the puck along the ice hitting the net on the far side, putting the Crusaders up by one.
Before the fans were able to get back to their seats after the flood, Cole Zwep potted his second goal of the game on a feed from Baily Bos, putting the Crusaders up by one.
Unfortunately the Sailors were able to get one more goal and the game ended in a 3-3 tie.
Dakota Coultes and Ted Jacklin played strong defence for the Crusaders.
