Howson Mills Bantam Rep Crusaders open series with South Bruce
The Bantam Rep Crusaders hosted the South Bruce Blades in the first game of the second round of OMHA playoffs. The boys played hard, but fell to the Blades 4-3.
The Crusaders picked up where they left off against Seaforth, skating and working hard, an led the game 1-0 after one period on an unassisted goal by Mason Weber.
Half way through the second period the Crusaders found themselves down 3-1 after an unlucky bounce and two power play goals, but they didn't give up.
The Crusaders did an excellent job of cycling the puck in the Blades' zone, intercepting weak clearing attempts and causing the Blades fits. Bailey Bos intercepted one of those clearing attempts and blasted a slap shot through the Blades goalie.
South Bruce started the third period quickly, scoring early and grabbing a 4-2 lead. The Crusaders continued to take the play to the Blades, hemming them in their own zone. Myles Johnston did some strong work along the boards and was able to get the puck to defenceman Dakota Coultes, who fired a shot from the point and cleanly beat the South Bruce goalie.
The boys continued to play hard buzzing the South Bruce zone, but weren't able to get the tying goal and lost the game 4-3.
The Howson Mills Crusaders take on the South Bruce Blades on 27 January at 7:30 at the Brussel arena.
