Blyth Brussels Midget Rep Crusaders OMHA Champions
They say that winning in someone else's 'barn' is a tough task to take on but you can't tell that to the Blyth Brussels Midget Rep Crusaders.  Winning on the road led them to the OMHA Finals and another road win earned them the OMHA Championship.  The Crusaders posted a 6-3 victory to take the OMHA series 3-1 (games).

The Belmont arena was bursting at the seams with signs and Crusader fans and the boys responded early to take the lead 1-0. The talented Belmont team responded back with 2 power play goals to lead 2-1. The rest of the tense filled period had the Crusaders killing off further penalties. Good defence and solid goaltending by Nathan Watson kept the boys in the game.

The 2nd period was a complete turnaround for the Crusaders. Hard work and staying out of the penalty box payed off and the Crusaders responded with 4 goals to take a 5-2 lead. The Belmont squad had a very difficult time generating any opportunities as the Crusaders were all over them. Team Captain, Jeremy Ross, demonstrated the boys determination and grit as he battled 4 opposition players in their end on their power play.

Not wanting to let up the Crusaders played a brilliant third period. Keeping things simple and not letting Belmont mount any sort of challenge and even adding another goal to make it 6-2. As the minutes ticked by it was very clear that the Crusaders were not letting the Championship slip by. A late Belmont goal in the 3rd made it 6-3 but there would be no denying the boys in blue.

The game ended with unbelievable rousing cheers that seemed to rock the very building. The boys had won it all!

The Crusaders would like to extend their thanks to their many sponsors, family, friends and fans. The support of the communities was overwhelming and the boys are extremely grateful and proud to be MIDGET REP OMHA CHAMPIONS.
