Look RUSTY but stay the course to find a way to WIN

After a lengthy and much needed break the boys were in Drayton to play the Defenders on Remembrance Day at 3:30 pm.

The boys looked painfully slow and sloppy to start out. Solid defence weathered the storm until the forwards shook some rust off. Solid play by all 4 D Men was show cased as Will "The Thrill" Nesbit, Ty " Agent Orange" Somers, Emmitt "Stretch" Shortreed, and Everett "The Blyth Brawler" Cherrey, who was playing his first game out of the cage, looked real good. A scoreless first period was thanks to the 4 defencemen and new Goalie of the month, Aiden "The Quiet One" Hickey. Hickey takes over the reigns in net as Cherrey comes out to play defence.
The second period was more of the same, sloppy play, tight defence, and timely scoring finally poked its head. The boys were up 3-1 after two periods. Again Hickey being called on for some big saves as the forwards were not in it at all.
But WAIT...... they came alive in the third. And by alive I mean they outscored the Defenders 6-1 in the third period alone. Hot Rod Ansley broke free of some tight checking, and hacking and punished them for 5 goals and 2 assists. And like I have said in the past, and I love being right.......LUUUUUKKKKKKEEEE White scored his first goal as a Novice, bulging the twine on a nice give and go with Hot Rod. The arena erupted with LUUUUKKKKKEEEEE chants as Whites hard work and determination finally paid off. Absent from Sundays game was Adrian "Bo Dangles" Egli, who had a prior scheduled family event to attend. That's alright Bo Dangles, family always comes first...always.
Two practices and two more games are on tap this week, to continue what seems to be a very busy schedule for the month of November. Every practice, every game these kids get better. They are still undefeated in the regular season and darn proud of it. Boys, remember every opponent is going to want to knock you off that mountain. Work hard, stay focused, listen to the coaching, and don't take a game off. Don't make it easy for the other teams looking to take that away from you.
A message to all the Men and Women who served and who are serving our country, we say thank you to you all. As we as a team and staff are forever indebted to your sacrifice. Thank you for your service, thank you for our freedom. LEST WE FORGET!!!
