Peewee Girls Win Milverton Holiday Tournament!!
On December 27th and December 28th the Peewee girls played in their first tournament of the year in Milverton.

Game 1 was to be against the host team.  With a strong start, they came out with a 5-2 win.  Scoring for the team was Emily Mitchell, Katherine Chalmers, Sydney Wightman, Kailey Wheeler and Morgan Howson.   Assists going to Ashley Stevenson, Mitchell and Chalmers.

Game 2 was against Upper Maitland and the girls played well to get a 6-2 win.  The goals in this game were scored by Chalmers (2), Wheeler (2), Shaelynn Brown (her first goal!!) and Mitchell.    Assists went to Stevenson, Mitchell, Howson, Teresa Atkinson and Sydney Michie.

Game 3 was on Tuesday, December 28th against Mitchell and our team was shut down early in the game.  We got behind by 4 goals and couldn’t seem to get any momentum in the game.  We lost the game 4-1.  Our lone goal scored by Mitchell and assisted by Tiffany Deitner.

After the round robin play, it was determined that we were to meet the Mitchell team, which the girls had just lost to, for the A final.  The team and coaches knew they would have to put up a better effort, if they expected to come out with a win.

In a fast paced thrilling final game, the two teams fought for a first goal.  Finally, in the 2nd period, our Katherine Chalmers squeaked one by their goalie.  In the final minutes, and with Mitchell’s goalie pulled, our team fought hard to keep them from scoring and the game ended with the 1-0 score. Our goalie, Chasity Caeser received the well deserved MVP for our team for the final game.

Great job girls!  We look forward to our next tournament in Alymer in February.
