Midgets tie Howick
The Bulldogs finished before Christmas with a gritty effort against a very strong Howick team and held the visitors to a 3-3 tie.

The home team got on the board first on a goal by Michael McDowell assisted by Thomas Lecomte.  Howick tied it up late in the period.  Howick went ahead in the second and carried the 2-1 advantage into the intermission.

The Bulldogs tied it up in the second minute of the third period on a goal by Dallas Pennington assisted by Lucas Cooke.  The game stayed tied until the five minute mark of the period, when Howick went ahead.  Howick had only lost 3 times in 10 games this season and appeared relieved to have the lead late in the game on the winless Bulldogs.

The boys kept pressing and had a few chances to score and with 1:20 left Kenny Plunkett and Lucas Cooke had a 2 on 1 break.  The pair did not manage to score, but the Howick defense failed to cover the trailing Blyth forward, Dallas Pennington, and he charged the goal and chipped it over the goalie for his second of the game.

The final minute saw both teams with chances to take the win.  In the dying seconds Howick was buzzing the Blyth net and managed to get away a slap shot from the slot, but Sheldon Reid made a sensational glove save as time expired to preserve the tie.  The team played solid and kept battling the whole game.  Thomas Lecomte left the game in the third period after taking a slap shot off the foot on an apparent late shot on an offside call.  Hopefully it is not a serious injury.
