Atom Girls Win in Kincardine
The girls followed up their season opener with a win at the Davidson Centre Saturday afternoon, by a 5 - 0 score.
Autumn Wightman got the Ice Dogs on the scoresheet halfway through the first. Ashley Higgins also scored in the first period, with assists on both goals going to Mackenzie Nesbitt. There was no scoring in the second. The third period opened with an unassisted goal by Higgins. In the final minutes of the game the team was starting to pass the puck well and that resulted in two more goals. The first was set up by Wightman and Amy Boyce Boyce wasted no time in firing the puck home. The second one was set up by a great pass from Teresa Atkinson that Higgins made no mistake in scoring her third of the game.
The team will need to continue the sharp play as the next opponents are the Goderich Sailorettes next Saturday in Blyth.
