Midget Rep, U18, 2013-2014 (Blyth Brussels Minor Hockey)

The Midget Rep team travelled to Mildmay on Jan 23 to begin the next round of playoffs.  The team had a fast start, however South Bruce was able to score on a rebound in the first period.   The team maintained pressure and traded chances in the second and third periods but were unable to get on the scoreboard.  South Bruce capitalized on two power play opportunities which resulted in a 3-0 final score to lock in the win.  The Crusaders are committed to hard work and expect to even the series at home early next week. The Midget Rep team closed out West Grey with a dominating win on Jan 20 in Durham.  The team maintained puck possession and offensive zone time throughout the game. The West Grey goalie faced  over 40 shots, however early in the overtime period Brock Mclean finally snapped home a wrister for the sudden death 1-0  victory. This clinched the series in  a three games.  Matt McNichol generated a second shutout in the series.The strong South Bruce team is the next challenge.  Great start Crusaders. Written by Bert Sjaarda

The Crusaders are off to a good start in their first playoff round with West Grey. They had a full roster for the first time in several months.  The team had a convincing shout win on January 13.  Thursday night, the team managed a 2-1 road win, goals by Brock McLean in the first period and Dustin Pennington in the second period. Both goalies played great.  They team played a strong defensive third period to capture the win.  Good start Crusaders. Submitted by Sjaarda
