Kincardine Silverstick Tournament
As our Christmas plans were ending there was no time for the PeeWee Rep Crusaders to rest as their Silverstick Tournament would begin in Tiverton on December 27th.

Game #1 for the team was Dec. 27th in Tiverton against TCDMHA Rebels.  The players worked hard with scoring beginning in the second period for the Crusaders.  At 8:48 Brett McCutcheon, alone, gave his team their first point. Less than a minute later Jake Bromley worked the puck back to defense Carson Bromley who in turn moved it over to Brett for his second goal.  Working off this adrenaline Shea Cox created access to the puck and passed it over to Brett, who than earned his hat trick of the match.  Still skating hard and moving the play around the team's final goal of the second period came with only 27.7 seconds left.  Shea took control, found an open player in Kurtis Marks who kept control and passed it over to Luke Fisher for his point of the game and the team's fourth.  At the end of the second it was Crusaders 4 Rebels 2.  Keeping up the rhythm was more difficult in the third period as the Rebels came back to score 2 more goals, putting us at a tied game of hockey.  With edge of your seat playing and only 7 seconds left to play, Crusaders found the key to a game winning goal.  Brett took control of the puck, moved his way past the opposition and added a game winning point to his roster.  Great work Brett!!  The entire team worked well together, kept up the pace and made the coaches proud.

Game #2 was back in Tiverton on Dec. 28th against Delhi Rockets.  With equal playing on both sides the game ended in a 1 to 1 tie.  The Crusaders lone goal came in the first period at 4:41 minutes from Brett McCutcheon.  The Rockets gained their point near the end of the second period.  With no scoring in the third, the match ended with a tie game.

Game #3 was later in the same day, at the same venue opposing Huron-Bruce Blizzards.  This proved to be a tighter match of hockey.  Our Crusaders worked hard and move the puck around well, just not able to get one in the net.  Scoring did start early in the game for the Blizzards but the Crusaders stayed positive and didn't allow anything to get them down.  It ended in a 3 to 0 loss.

Our future games depended on the outcome of others.  It ended with the Crusaders finished for this tournament.  Great work Crusaders, whether you play forward, goalie or defense this is a team sport and this team has a tremendous work ethic.  No one is left behind.  Every game is a lesson for the next and a chance to play a sport they love with friends.  Keep up the good work!!
