Bantam Rep Shaking Off The Rust
The Dogs game out looking a little rusty allowing Brussels to strike first with a shot from the point that snuck by Blyth's netminder Dalton with 5:41 left in the first period. But Matt stepped up to tie it up with help from Spencer and Mike to get the Dogs on the board with 4:27 left in the first.
Not sure what was said at the bench between periods by Coach Rick but it worked as the Dogs came out strong scoring 41 seconds into the second period. As they kept pressing hard and fighting for every puck there hard paid off and the Dogs finished the second period up 8 to 1. Blyth's only penalty came with 8:02 left in the second as the referee caught Robbie with his elbow in the wrong spot.
The third period played out similar to the second and at the sound of the final buzzer the Dog's were up 15 to 1. At the end of play Wyatt, Mike, and Matt each had a "Hat Trick", Ryan and Dustin each had two goals and Spencer and Robbie each had a goal. There were to many assists to list as I believe everyone made it to the game sheet.
In between periods and even after the game there was alot of discussion about the possibility of Wyatt tipping that shot from the point past his brother. Oh well, I guess we will never really know.
The Dogs are off to Brussels this Wednesday night at 9:00 pm where I am sure Brussels will come out strong looking to take the win on their home pond.
