Atom Girls Start Season Strong
The Blyth/Brussels Atom Girls have one tie and two wins to their credit for the 2010-11 season.

On Friday November 5, 2010 the Ice Dogs travelled to Saugeen Shores for their first game of the season.  Both teams played solid games.  Saugeen scored first with 1:33 left in the first period.  The second period would see no goals scored, with Julia Beaven between the pipes.  The first goal of the season for the Ice Dogs was scored four minutes into the third period.  Second year atom, Sarah Strome carried the puck for an awesome unassisted goal to tie the game at 1-1.  Saugeen snuck one more past with 2:33 left in the third.  The girls continued a strong offensive game,  bringing the goalie in to add an extra attacker.  With :44 left in the third, Sarah Mitchell netted the tying goal with an assist from Alicia Ireland.

The team's home opener took place Saturday November 6, 2010 with a visit from Normanby.  The Ice Dogs started the scoring in the first period with an unassisted goal from Sarah Strome.  The lead would be short lived as Normanby tied it up 21 seconds later.  In the second period the Ice Dogs took the lead again with a goal by Alicia Ireland, assisted by Morgan Willie and Sarah Strome.  Sarah Mitchell netted an unassisted goal in the third period and solid goaltending by Clarrisa Gordon secured the win.

On Saturday, November 13, 2010 the Ice Dogs hosted Durham.  The team played a strong offensive game netting 8 goals.  Scoring started up with a goal from Sarah Mitchell, assisted by Morgan Willie.  Centremen, Sarah Mitchell would find the net again in the first with an unassisted goal.  The Ice Dogs added 3 more goals in the second period.  Goal credits went to Dana Dolmage, Morgan Willie, and Alexandra(Bobbie) Martin.  Each goal had a single assist from Sarah Mitchell, Sarah Strome and Morgan Willie, putting the Ice Dogs in the lead 5-0.  Durham found their way through defense at 8:04, to score their first goal.  The team continued a strong attack on the visitors with 3 more goals scored in the third period.   Brookelyn Johnston proved she could hold her own, scoring 2 of the 3 goals unassisted!!  The third period also saw Durham take advantage of our offensive strategy and they managed to net 3 goals as well in the third.  Scoring continued until the end of the game.  With :01 on the clock, defensemen Bobbie Martin scored her second goal of the game with an assist by Morgan Willie.
