2 MORE WINS over the weekend
Two more games this past weekend and the result was 2 more wins. Saturdays game against the much improved Drayton Defenders was a 5-3 win and the game on Sunday against the Wingham Ironmen, in the battle of Highway 4, was a 9-7 victory. Lessons learned from these two games were we need to improve on speed through the neutral zone and remember to stay focused for the entire game and not to look at the scoreboard until the end of the game.

Saturdays contest was a hard fought well earned 5-3 victory. Continuing his insane scoring pace was Hot Rod Ansley scoring all 5 of the Crusaders goals. It wasn't just the scoring by Ansley that stood out but strong defensive efforts by The Cole Miner Gredanius and Justin Case Fleet help preserve the win. The Cole Miner chased down a Drayton player who was in on a clear break away. The Miner chased him down, poking the puck away showing his improved play. Everett The Blyth Brawler Cherrey was back between the pipes turning aside many scoring chances to ensure that his teammates efforts were for not.
Sunday afternoon The Battle of Highway 4 was on display. Some choppy and physical play at times showed up in the last half of the game as the Crusaders stopped and watched the game as the Ironmen did not quit and erased a 5 goal deficit to come within a goal with less than 2 minutes to play. Hot Rod Ansley would have none of that, went end to end and put the nail in the coffin and called it a game. Seems that when we need a big goal we can count on Hot Rod t come through. This is not a surprise as Hot Rod Rodney Ansley has produced 101 points in just 21 games. That's an average of 4.8 points per game. Wow is all I have to say. The Quiet One Aiden Hickey was in net bailing his team out, making some key saves as the Ironmen swarmed him for the last half of the third period.
The Crusaders have a Saturday morning tilt against The Huron Bruce Blizzard, who played the Crusaders a few weeks back in a 1 goal game. They will come to play, that is for sure. Then the Christmas break, well at least until the 27th, when we go to Ripley for the Silverstick tournament. The kids and coaches have been working extremely hard in practice working on the smaller details of the game which will only help in winning games in the tourney and into playoffs. Good work boys!!
Finally, as a coaching staff and from our players we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a safe and Happy New Year.
