One Heck of a Busy Week!!!
A whole lot has happened since our last write up!! In the rematch with the Goderich Sailors the boys from Blyth/Brussels came to set things straight. After a very crucial and much needed practice we were off to Goderich for a Tuesday evening tilt. The lads did not disappoint , posting a convincing 6-3 win. The Sailors added a couple of late goals to make it more respectable, but other than that the boys were on fire.
I don't want to be the one who told you so, but Adrian "Bo Dangles" Egli potted not just his first goal ever but 2 goals in the game.Told you 2 weeks ago, it was coming sooner than later. He looked a lot like Milan Lucic crashing the net burying 2 sweet passes from Hot Rod Ansley.

The place erupted basking in the sheer joy displayed by every player and coach on The Novice Rep Team. Nobody more happy than Adrians Mom!!! Well maybe one, Adrian. You could not have wiped that smile off his face with a shovel!! Another example of this teams commitment to team play and hard work!!Showing his own hard work and commitment to the defensive plan of the Crusader's, Ty "Agent Orange" Somers was in my eyes, the best player on the ice. Great job Orange!!
The celebration of keeping the regular season undefeated record in tact was short....time to focus on the upcoming Novice Rep B Chris Knott Memorial Tournament in Port Elgin on the weekend of November 2-4. The kids hit the ice on Friday afternoon against the powerful Kincardine squad. We started out fast but ran out of gas as the much bigger, stronger Kincardine team handed us our first loss of the season 12-5. Player of the game award went to Everett Cherrey, who stopped 45 shots in the loss. Game 2 was Friday evening  against the host club Saugeen Shores and again the boys came up short losing 6-1. The game was a lot closer than the score as we just couldn't put many past the goalie from Saugeen Shores. Player of the game award went to Rodney Ansley and he had numerous chances and showed no to give up. Our third game was Saturday afternoon in Southampton against another tough squad from North Middle Sex ( Parkhill ). We came out flying. never stopping skating, constant pressure and again timely goaltending, were the keys to victory, winning 6-4. That win put us in second place in our pool, placing us in the consolation Bronze Medal game against the host club Saugeen Shores once again. The player of the game was Emmitt Shortreed who played his best game of the season. The 6 teams in our 2 divisions of 3 each were very close, coming down to goals for and against and percentage points to get us in 2nd place. Our fourth game was against Lambton Shores where we came out tired but worked hard. In the end losing 5-2 against the choppy squad from Lambton Shores. Player of the game award went to Will "The Thrill" Nesbit, who just like in every other game he plays, just didn't quit....ever.
The Bronze Medal game was at 8 am Sunday morning in Port Elgin (yuck). The boys were up at 530 heading to the game with all intentions of bringing home the Bronze. The game was very exciting, end to end action. Big saves at each end, beautiful passing, just what people call a good ol hockey game. If  it weren't for a couple of questionable calls against the Crusaders, we surely would have won. Two penalties against, 2 power plays against, losing 4-3. Hot Rod Rodney Ansley put the team on his back and they followed, working hard, doing the little things. Once again Everett " The Blyth Brawler" Cherrey was solid in net turning aside many chances to keep his team close. Coach Mike Ansley and the rest of the staff and fans were pleasantly surprised and encouraged with the play of all the players on the team. Sometimes you have to learn to lose to learn how to win!!! Player of the game award went to Hot Rod Rodney Ansley once again, which was well deserved. Everett "The Blyth Brawler" Cherrey earned player of the tournament award, playing his best games of the year, looking like the real deal.
A huge thank you to all the parents for ensuring the kids were dressed appropriately on time and well behaved. It didn't go unnoticed as numerous people at the tournament made sure to tell me how much they appreciated the respect shown by our kids, coaches and fans throughout the weekend. Proud moment!!
After the game we had to head home for a quick rest and get ready to play the second place team in our regular season division, Central Perth. That's right 6 games in 3 days!!!!!! The game started out quick. End to end. Big saves by Cherrey again, Hot Rod scoring, The Blonde Bomber Damon Shannon and Justin Case Fleet finding the score sheet too. The boys came out hard to show the league that those few losses in the tournament were proof of the talent of there opponents rather than the weakness of our club, posting a convincing 10-4 victory in front of a sold out crowd to close out the Crusader Day event at the Blyth arena.
What can we say about these kids, other than they love to play the game. They love it when their teammates are successful. In saying that, watch out, 2 more players are finding their own groove thang!!  Lucas "LUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKKKKKEEEEEEE" White and Connor "The Moosling" Kellington have flipped the switch and have come out of there shell. With the secondary scoring and all around improvement of the Youngsters all I can say is WATCH THE HECK OUT!!!!!

Good work boys, we are proud of you, you make us as coaches look good.
