Out With a Bang!!!!
The Burgundy Crusaders finished the schedule with a very entertaining 2-1 win over the Central Perth squad. End to end action and spectacular goaltending by both goalies was the recipe for today's game. Two evenly matched teams slugging it out. Everett the Blyth Brawler Cherrey started the scoring with an end to end rush snapping a blazer wrist shot over the goalies pad. Justin Case Fleet bounced one off a defender to post a 2-0 lead. Payton Orr Brodeur Piper was spectacular between the pipes holding onto a shut out half way through the game before giving up a nice scoring play by Central Perth. The rest of the game was action packed keeping the enthusiastic crowd on the edge of the seats. Central Perth pushed on right to the final buzzer trying to tie the game up.

A stellar defensive game by Maddie Mad Dog Hickling was present all game including a fine play with seconds left to secure the win.
Our record of 10-9-2 is a successful one. 6 0f the 9 losses were to the power houses of Mount Forest and Mitchell respectively. These two teams are much more experienced and from a different higher league. Played these games to make us stronger. And they did!! Take those 6 losses away and we finish 10-3-2 in our division!!!!!!! Now that is awesome!! Great job kids. We started the season off 1-5-1 too. Quite the record from Christmas break on I would say.
After todays game we had a Pot Luck Luncheon to show our appreciation to the kids and parents grand parents and all the fans of the Tyke Burgundy Crusader's. The Crusader's have a wide range of follower's spread across the globe. Fan's from California, British Columbia, Alberta, and even as far as England follow these kids. Amazing, and your effort is appreciated by all of them.
The Luncheon allowed our coaching staff to show our appreciation to the parents and families of the kids. Each player was awarded an individual trophy for their hard work and dedication through out the year.

A very special thank you to my staff. Jeremy Piper, Erin Nesbit and Sarah Cherrey. Thank you very much for all of your help. Would not have been able to do it without all of you. You all played a very important part in the progress of our team. I enjoyed myself immensely this season. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as I did. I loved it. All of it. Seeing these young boys and girls improve every week was the best. Their hard work paid off. Hope to see you all around town throughout the summer. Love hockey. It's the best sport in the world. The friends you make now through the game will be there when you become an adult. Believe me. Always has been that way, always will be.
Again, thank you.

Respectfully
Coach Derek
