Still Lingering!!

The darned ol' cold and flu bug reared its ugly head once again for the Tyke Burgundy Crusaders. With only 8 skaters and 2 of those 8 sick, but good "enough " to play, the Crusaders took to the ice in Mount Forest against the power house Rams. The kids battled hard, keeping it close to a 2-1 score half way through the game. But eventually the kids got tired out, double and triple shifting, trying to do what they could to keep it close. The Rams kept coming, wearing us down. Valiant effort put forth by all the kids. An end to end rush by the Blyth Brawler Everett Cherrey brought the crowd to their feet. Cherrey finished the rush off and tucked the puck in off the post to score the only goal for our kids.

As the game wore on the Rams continued to apply constant effort and started to run the score up. We as a staff have had the opportunity to do this on several occasions this season but have chosen not to do it as a sign of respect to our opponent. A practice that sometimes you see, sometimes you don't. I am very proud of the respect and pride of the game of hockey our kids and staff have shown ALL season.
Next Saturday the 11th of March is our last game of the season. The game is at 11 am in Brussels against the Monkton/Milverton squad. Come on out and show your gratitude to the kids for all of their hard work and perseverance. Afterwards the team has a pot luck luncheon and banquet for the kids to show  that well deserved gratitude. Thank you to Les Cook and Anne Elliott for the donated hall at the Blyth East side Dance studio.  Once again stepping up and supporting a local team. Thank you very much.
Everyone get healthy and we will see you on Saturday. I am very much looking forward to this Saturday.
