Cold and Flu Bug is finally GONE!!!!
Back on the 18th of February the cold and flu bug was running rampant on the Tyke Crusaders. They battled all game, coughing and hacking, doing what they could but came out with a 5-1 loss to the Zurich Thunder. Everett Happy Gilmore Cherrey scored the only goal of the game for the Crusaders early on with a beautiful deke on a break away going "Bar Down". Possibly could be the goal of the year. Rowdy Rowdy Hayden Piper was solid in net keeping the score respectable.

Yesterday the boys and girls came healthy and eager to play. Excited to hit the ice, they did not disappoint. The goals came fast and furious posting a quick 5-0  lead enroute to a final score of 8-2. The Crusaders were lead offensively by Will the Thrill Nesbit who scored 2 goals and 3 assists. One of those assists was epic. The Thriller was pinned in the corner by 3 of the Howick Hornets players. You couldn't even see Will, but you could sure hear him hacking away. Will in typical Thriller style came out of the pack with the puck and fed a beauty pass to Justin Case Fleet who buried a howitzer off the post and in. Justin Case Fleet and Wesley Pipes Marks each had three tallies in the victory. Everett Happy Gilmore Cherrey tried his luck in goalie again for the third time this season. Happy was stellar making numerous key saves. One save in particular brought the packed house to their feet. A hornet forward had a break away bearing down on Happy. The shot was fired and Cherrey made a Superman dive towards the shooter. The puck glanced off his shoulder denying the Hornet forward. Brooklyn the Brawler Bromley had a fantastic game of her own on defence. Her perfect skating stride was in full affect, carrying the puck with great confidence making perfectly executed first passes out of the defensive end. Her play has taken off the past three games. Looks like the switch has clicked. Excellent job Brawler, Coach Derek is very pleased with your play!!!! BIG TIME!!!
Next up is the powerhouse Mount Forest Rams on Saturday March 4th in Mount Forest. I feel things will be a little different this time around as our team has steadfastly improved since our last meeting. Coach Derek and Coach Jeremy have a few tricks up their sleeves for the Rams this time. One thing we always know is that the Crusaders will not be out worked!!!!
Two more games left in the season. It has been a fun ride. Continue to improve and good things will happen.

Coach Derek
