Initiation White Crusaders Conclude First Season
The Blyth Brussels Initiation White Crusaders wrapped up the season with a spirited game against the Lucknow Sepoys in Blyth on Saturday morning.

This was the final time the team would step on the ice this year.  For most of the players it was their first year of organized hockey, and it was a successful beginning to their hockey careers.  All players were able to improve significantly over the course of the season, developing their skating, puckhandling, passing, and shooting skills.   Beyond hockey skills, they also made significant gains in their teamwork and listening skills, as well as their work ethic and self confidence.

There were several high lights over the course of the season, some of which included:

The Clifford Cricket tournament.

According to most players the high points of the tournament included lunch and receiving a medal.  The reason why they got the medal, varied depending on which player you ask.  This was the first tournament for all players, and even though it was a challenge to play two games on the first day, the players bounced back with a memorable performance on the second day of the tournament and left with lasting memories.

Goals

The team was able to score a lot of goals this year and many players picked up their first goal ever.  11 different players registered a goal during exhibition and tournament play.  Although our three youngest players didn’t score this year, they were able to touch the puck several times, and contribute to the team’s offense.

The Final Game

It was the most impressive display of the team’s skills this year.  All players proved that they had developed into fine young hockey players by the end of the season, showing off strong skating, passing, shooting, and playmaking skills.  As an added bonus, all players received a mini stick, donut, and chocolate milk after the game, as a reward for all their hard work this season.

A big thank you goes out to all players for listening and working hard.  That was a big reason for the great improvements made.   The team focused on achieving three things each and every time they stepped on the ice.... Have fun, Be Safe, and Get Better.  Doing this lead the team to much success.

Thanks to all the parents for driving players to practices and games, as well as volunteering to help the team in various roles.  The dedication our parents showed was greatly appreciated by the entire team.
