Penalty Woes Contribute to Peewee AE's Opening Loss
The first round of the OMHA playoffs started this past Wednesday in Blyth for the Peewee AE's when the Lambton Shores (Thedford/Forest) Predators came to town.

With no other "C" division Peewee AE teams in the WOAA district the Blyth Brussels Peewee AE's start their opening round of playoffs in the OMHA against a team from the Shamrock loop. Lambton Shores came to Blyth Wednesday night to open the series.

The opening period started with the AE's on their heels somewhat, but didn't take long returning the favour by turning the tide and putting the pressure on their opponents.  Jeremy Wilts and the opposing goaltender made some great saves to keep the first scoreless.

Blyth Brussels would open the scoring a minute into the second when Carson Richmond would jam in the puck with helpers going to Jared Shearer and Craig Raynard. The AE's would take back-to-back panalties three minutes apart both resulting in Predator power play goals for the 2-1 lead.

It would stay a one goal game until 5 minutes left in the third when Lambton Shores would find the loose puck in the scrum in front of Wilts and take a 3-1 lead. In a last ditch effort, Coach Richmond would pull the goalie for the extra attacker, but the opponents would manage to find the empty net for a 4-1 final score.

The boys travel to Thedford on Tuesday evening to face the Predators for game #2, then back to Blyth Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. to face Milverton in WOAA round robin action.  Then back to Thedford on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. for game #3 of OMHA playdowns.
