Drayton Kept Off The Score Board
The Drayton Defenders came to The Dog Pound last night and got stoned by Blyth’s hot goalie Dalton (Eddie) Carey.

After sitting out the last game Matt VanWyk was on a mission scoring twice in the opening period. Assisting on Matt’s goals were his brother Mike, and Wyatt Carey.

Not wanting to be out done both Arden Coultes and Robbie Gordon each put a puck by Drayton’s goalie as well. Robbie had the assist on one, Arden’s goal, and Dustin Pennington assisted on both. So the first period ended with Blyth up by 4 unanswered goals.

In the second period the Blyth boys took a number of penalties, five to be exact, hard to score from the sin bin boys. Spencer Stevenson stepped up to get Blyth back on the correct path scoring the first goal of the second with assists going to Mike, and Dallas Coultes. Not to be out done by his brother, Mike got two pucks by the Drayton goalie, assisting on one was Spencer. Finishing out the second period Wyatt Carey was able to bury one thanks to a great pass from Matt. At the end of the second period Blyth was up 8 to 0.

Between the second and third the Zamboni was out so the boys were in the dressing room for the big pep talk from Coach Scott Stevenson, likely short and sweet. So back to the ice for the final fifteen minutes of play and Drayton was starting to show frustration as they had four trips to the sin bin. Matt was able to get that hat trick with a nifty pass from Wyatt. It seems what goes around comes around as Wyatt buried his second puck of the game on a pass from, you guessed it Matt. The final buzzer came with Blyth winning 10 to 0 and Dalton (Eddie) earning his first shut out of the 2010 – 2011 season.

A quick thanks goes out to Sharon Westburg who made her season debut as the team Trainer when required.

It seems that I neglected to thank Rick VanWyk for his help in the first game of the year as he stepped up to coach that game.

On this Saturday, October 30, the Dogs will head to Monkton to face the Elma Logan Wildcats, the puck drop is at 1:00 PM. As there is a 7:00 AM practice Saturday let’s hope the boys behave Friday night.

GO DOGS GO!
