Bulldogs Win with Total Team Effort!!
The Atom Rep Bulldogs will be moving on to the next round of playoffs with a big OT win in game #3 of the first round of playoffs against Ripley. The Bulldogs pulled out a gutsy overtime 2-1 win as Parker Gibbings scored the winner with a rifle shot in the top corner.

This series could have went either way as the teams were very evenly matched.  Ripley took the first game played in Blyth last Monday night by the score of 3-1.  The dogs played well but just couldn't get any bounces and they knew if they kept on playing as a team they would come back to win the series.

Game #2 was in Ripley and was a do or die situation for our dogs.  The attitude in the dressing room was not "if" we win but "when" we win, we would take it back to Blyth for game #3.  Ripley opened the scoring in the second period only to have the dogs come back a couple of minutes later to tie things up.  A scoreless third period saw the teams enter into an overtime period with the next goal as the winner.  The teams went back and forth and with just under the 5 minute mark Parker Gibbings took a pass from Griffin MacDonald and buried it to send the dogs back to their home barn for the rubber match.

Game #3 was Sunday afternoon and the dogs were all fired up as they knew with the win they would get an important part of their team back, Jared Shearer.  The game was just like the first 2 in this series as the teams went back and forth with both goalies stopping everything that came their way.  Blyth opened the scoring in the second period on a great effort by Damon Allen with the assist going to Carson Richmond.  Leading 1-0 going into the third period, we were just 15 minutes away from going to the next round.  Ripley, however was not ready to make it that easy for us as they tied the game at one, 5 minutes into the third period.  It stayed this way til the end of regulation and both teams were heading back to another overtime period to see who was going to be the winner of a hard fought series.

It was amazing to see a bunch of young kids that were excited, composed and confident, as we went into the OT period.  With 3 minutes gone in the OT period Parker Gibbings sent the team piling onto our goalie in celebration as the dogs had pulled out a huge victory and a total TEAM effort.

Congrats DOGS!!

Next round is against the Drayton Defenders and will be posted on the website.
