Peewee Girls Win WOAA White Division
The Blyth-Brussels Peewee girls had their WOAA playoff tournament over the March 27 and 28 weekend in Port Elgin.

The first game was against the Saugeen Shores Storm on Saturday morning.  The girls won the game 4 - 0 and advanced to the championship side of the tournament.  Goal scorers were Teresa Atkinson, Ashley Higgins, Delayna Smith and Mackenzie Nesbitt.

Next up was a game against the Bruce Peninsula Northstars.  The only prior meeting of these 2 teams was in the Young Canada Week tournament semi-final with the Northstars winning in overtime.  Our girls had revenge on their minds and came out flying and did not let up until the final buzzer.  The team opened the scoring in the 2nd minute of the game and built a 5 - 0 lead before the Northstars got on the board late in the second period.  Final score in the victory was 7 - 1.  Scoring the goals were Ashley Higgins with the hat trick, Taylor Higgins with 2, and singles going to Nesbitt and Tiffany Deitner.

The Championship game was against a familiar opponent in the Mount Forest Rams.  The 2 teams had played each other 4 previous times this season.  Mount Forest won twice in exhibition games and Blyth-Brussels had won  in the Milverton Tournament C final and the Young Canada Week consolation final.  The game was very even with chances to score at both ends of the ice.  Lindsay Shiell played a very good game in net and would earn her second shutout of the tournament.  After 2 scoreless periods the team wanted to end the game before overtime was necessary.  Nesbitt made sure there would be no overtime required by scoring a natural hat trick.  Final score was 3 - 0 to win the WOAA Championship.  Great way to end the season.
