The Blyth-Brussels Peewee girls had an exhibition game against the Storm from Saugeen Shores in Brussels, on Sunday, January 24th.

The game was close checking and both teams stood their ground through the first 2 periods of play.  The visitors were the first to record a goal in the opening minutes of the third period.  A few minutes later they added to the lead.  The home side responded 30 seconds later with a goal of their own by Delayna Smith with assists going to Ashley Higgins and Ashley Stevenson.  Higgins would even the score with a goal of her own 23 seconds later to tie the score.  Smith got the assist.

The flurry of goals made for an interesting finish to the game with both teams pressing for the win.  With a little more than a minute to go, Caitlin Scarrow gathered the loose puck and slammed home the game winner.  The assists went to Higgins and Tiffany Deitner.  With the Storm goalie pulled the defense stood their ground and Carlie Ducharme closed the door on the victory.  Final score 3-2.

The team will soon start the Ontario Women's Hockey Association regional playdowns for qualification to the Provincial Championship Tournament in April.  There are 6 teams in this region and the winner of the round robin series will advance to the Championships.  The team will host games with Goderich, Milverton and St. Mary's.  The team will visit Stratford and Upper Maitland (Howick/Wallace) to complete the 5 game round robin.
