Peewee Girls Travel to Milverton
The Blyth-Brussels Peewee girls played in the Milverton Royals Holiday Challenge over the Christmas holidays.

The first game was against Seaforth which turned out to be the eventual tournament Champion.  Seaforth built up a 3-0 lead by early in the third period, before Ashley Higgins got the team on the board.  Seaforth scored again to restore the 3 goal lead.  Higgins scored again late in the game to close out the scoring in a 4-2 loss.

The second game was against a Stratford team that lost to Seaforth in the Championship game.  This was a defensive battle with the team playing very well to limit the opposition.  Lindsay Shiell would stop all shots for the shutout.  In the third period Higgins scored with an assist to Leanne Plunkett.  That was the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory.

The final round robin game was against the host team.  Milverton scored 3 times in the second period to take the lead.  Late in the second period Higgins got the team going again with assists to Tiffany Deitner and Caitlyn Ducharme.  Early in the third, Mackenzie Nesbitt scored an unassisted goal.  That set up a furious finish to the game, with the girls applying tremendous pressure.  In the dying seconds of the game the chance came and a rebound was slammed home, but it was a fraction of a second late and the game ended with a 3-2 loss.

That put the team in the C final against Mount Forest.  Mount Forest jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first.  Higgins replied with a goal late in the first period.  Then she added another with four minutes left in the game.  The girls iced the game with an empty net goal in the final seconds of the game.
