Bantam Girls Get to Quarter Finals at Provincials
The Blyth-Brussels Bantam girls did very well for their first visit to Provincials (April 9-11), getting as far as the quarter-finals on Saturday.

The first game the girls played was on Friday against the Twin Centre Hurricanes from Wellesley. We had some exhibition games against them, so we knew what to expect. The girls had to work hard, but they came out with a 3-1 win.

On Saturday we were guaranteed two games. Our first game was against the Russell Coyotes. It was also an exciting game with Heidi Raynard earning a hat trick.  All the girls played well which resulted in a 4-2 win for our team. The girls were pumped and the parents were a nervous wreck.

The next game was going to be a tough one, but we had qualified for the quarter-finals whether we won this one or not. This game decided would decide who we played and we hoped to win the game, but the Chatsworth Rebels were very strong. The game ended in a 1-0 loss for Blyth-Brussels but it could have gone either way.

This brought us to the quarter-final game against a tough opponent from Ridgetown Dresden. The girls battled hard, but we just couldn't pull off the win, losing 2-1.

The coaching staff and parents were very proud of our girls, who played well and also managed to have a lot of fun. We all enjoyed a lot of very good hockey. It was a good experience for everyone involved. Way to go girls!
