Atoms Win 5 of 7 to Start Season
The first game of the season was played in Goderich. The boys lost 2-1 to the rep team. The only goal was scored by Brenden Howson, assisted by Cody Treble and Parker Gibbings.
Up next was a strong Lucknow team which ended in a 5-1 loss. The boys ran out of gas surrendering 3 unanswered goals in the third. Cody Treble scored the only goal unassisted.
Goderich was in town and the boys were keen to get their first win. The final was 3-2 for the locals. Scoring for Blyth was, Brenden Howson - 1 goal and 2 assists, and Cody Treble with 2 goals and 1 assist.
The next game was in Monkton to play Elma Logan final score was 6-0 for the locals. Jeremy Wilts recorded the shutout. Scoring were Parker Gibbings, Brenden Howson, Cody Treble and Gavin Workman. Assists going to Jacob Coultes, Parker Gibbings, Brenden Howson, Chad, and Cody Treble. Dawson Coultes, Colton Rodger, Jared Shearer, and Craig Raynard played a strong defensive game to secure the win.
The boys traveled to Clifford which proved to be an over match...final score was 33-0. All the players recorded multiple points. Franklin Marshall recorded his first shutout of the season.
Ripley was up next for the boys. The game started out slow but the locals gained their legs and skated to a 4-1 win. Brenden Howson, Cody, and Chad Treble completed the scoring. Parker Gibbings and Cody Treble earned assists.
The fifth win of the season was against the boys from Zurich. The team skated hard from start to finish coming away with a 10 -1 win. Blyth goal scorers were Brenden Howson, Chad, and Cody Treble. Assists earned by Parker Gibbings, Dawson Coultes, Brenden Howson, Chad, and Cody Treble.
Next game the lads travel to BCH to play the Icedogs on Saturday, November 14th.
