Peewee Girls Remain Undefeated
The Blyth-Brussels Peewee girls are still undefeated after 6 games, including 3 games in as many days over the weekend from November 14th to 16th.

The team had a tough match up in Goderich on Friday night.  Lexi Smith got the team going in the first period with assists going to Delayna Smith and Leanne Plunkett.  Goderich tied it up 3 minutes into the second period.  The teams entered the third period tied at 1.  Goderich scored two in the first half of the third to take the 3-1 lead.  The girls were determined to finish the game strong and Jordyn Sholdice scored with 3 minutes to go. Assists went to Ashley Higgins and Taylor Higgins.  The Smith sisters would combine for the tying goal at the 2 minute mark with Delayna firing a shot into the upper part of the net.  Goderich had a breakaway in the dying seconds of the game and managed to beat Lindsay Shiell, but the buzzer had sounded just before the puck entered the net.  Final Score was 3-3.

The team traveled to Kincardine on Saturday afternoon to play the houseleague team.  The girls overpowered their opponents and returned home with a 9-0 victory.

The weekend was closed out with a game against Mildmay at the Brussels arena late Sunday afternoon.  The first period was fast paced with many chances to score, but neither team was able to get on the board.  The visitors managed to score twice in the second period and took that advantage into the third period.  After the intermission to clean the ice, the Blyth-Brussels girls came out flying to try and get on the board.  They hit the crossbar twice and the post once and still could not get a goal.  Finally with seven minutes to go, Ashley Higgins lifted the puck past the Mildmay goaltender, with assists going to Lexi and Delayna Smith.  Mildmay iced the puck with a minute to go in the game.  That provided the chance to pull the goaltender and have an extra attacker.  With 34 seconds to go in the game Kaitlyn Michie set up Lexi Smith for the equalizing goal.  The final score was 2-2.
