Blyth Peewee Rep Get Swept
The Blyth Peewee Rep opened their OMHA quarter-finals in Blyth on February 11.

Game 1:  The first period ended in a draw as neither team was able to get one past the goalies. The visiting team struck first in the second period getting one by Blyth’s netminder, Dalton Carey. The third period started out much like the first, but Blyth was able to get on the scoreboard as Arden Coultes passed to Spencer Stevenson who bulged the twine. Unfortunately, Norwich was able to get their second goal of the game in the dying minutes of the third period. At the final buzzer Blyth 1, Norwich 2.

Game 2:  Game 2 was played in Norwich on February 12. Norwich opened the scoring towards the end of the first and then again towards the end of the second. Going into the change room between the second and third the Dogs were down by two. With some encouraging words from Coach Scott the Dogs came out strong in the third. Mike VanWyk put Blyth on the scoreboard on a pass from Ryan Nesbitt. Blyth’s second goal was scored by Trystan Weber on a pass from Arden Coultes. With the score tied at the end of the third, the game was headed for overtime. The Dogs started the overtime down two from penalties late in the third. Norwich took advantage of the 5 on 3 and scored early into the overtime winning the game. Final score Blyth 2, Norwich 3.

Game 3:  The Dogs started game 3 in Blyth in a win or go home situation, as Norwich was up 2 games in the best of 5 series. The first period was a back and forth game with a lot of penalties called. The Dogs came out strong in the second with Ryan Nesbitt scoring on a pass from Spencer Stevenson. Norwich came back strong and put one by Blyth’s net minder tying the game up. Going into the third the game was tied at 1. In the dying minutes of the third the Dogs were short handed and Norwich made them pay as they got their second goal of the game putting them up by one. Blyth pulled their goalie to add the sixth attacker, but was unable to capitalize. The Dogs lost, sending Norwich on to the OMHA semi-finals.
