Atom Girls Tie Seaforth
The Blyth-Brussels Atom Girls entertained the fans at the Blyth Arena on Sunday afternoon. Our home team was on the scoreboard at 7:22 in the first with a goal from Sydney Wightman, assisted by Tiffany Dietner and Sydney Michie.
Seaforth tied it up midway through the second. The defensive play of Faith Sebastian, Emily Mitchell, Samantha Kerr and Kathryn Chalmers kept the Seaforth forwards at bay. There were many scoring chances by both teams.
Keeping the pressure on for Blyth-Brussels was Caitlin Scarrow, Tiffany Uyl, Ashley Johnston, Ashley Stevenson, Teresa Atkinson, Emma Strome and Brooklyn Johnston.
The Blyth-Brussels team got the go ahead goal with 3:18 left in the third. Scoring for the home team was Shelby Higgins, assisted by Morgan Howson. Seaforth would continue to keep the pressure on and tied it up with 2.4 seconds left on the clock. Again, strong goaltending by Carlie Ducharme kept our Atom girls in the game.
