Atom Girls Season Opener
On Saturday, October 18th, the newly formed Blyth-Brussels Atom girls hockey team had their season opening game.  This team is a combination of girls from both the villages of Blyth and Brussels.  Members of the team come from 5 different schools.

Monkton was the site for this exhibition game against a very strong Mitchell team.  Mitchell ended up 2nd in their league last season .

The Atom girls were able to keep Mitchell off the scoreboard until halfway through the first.  Blyth-Brussels had some scoring chances throughout the game but never hit the twine.  Strong goaltending, by first time goalie, Carlie Ducharme, was a definite asset.

Newcomers to hockey, Tiffany Uyl, Ashley Johnston and Brookelyn Johnston played hard during the game.  Shelby Higgins, Emily Mitchell, Faith Sebastian and Tiffany Deitner worked hard all game to ward off the strong Mitchell forwards.

Offense was generated by strong play from forwards Sydney Michie, Kathryn Chalmers, Emma Strome, Morgan Howson, Sydney Wightman and Samantha Kerr.

Coach Paul Sebastian was proud of the teams play during their first game of the season. The Blyth home opener will be Sunday, October 19th at 3:00pm.
