Blyth vs Brussels into Game 5
After the first two games were split, the teams knew it could be a long series.

Last Thursday night the Blyth and Brussels Novice teams continued their playoff series. The first two games were split between the teams. Game 3 was taken by the Brussels team in another close game with a final score of 3-1. Blyth's only goal came late in the second period when Parker Gibbings scored unassisted. The Blyth squad tried to make it close but couldn't beat the Brussels goalie again. Brussels takes the lead in the series.

Friday night the Blyth team headed over to Brussels in a do, or be done, game 4. After Brussels scored in the first, and a few missed chances on Blyth's part, Blyth's, Jared Shearer, knocked one past the goaltender with help from Ethan Coultes and Bailey Bos in the second. The game was tied heading to the third. Parker Gibbings would carry the puck in from the blue line, and the rebound was buried into the net by Carson Richmond to take the lead. The Blyth team kept the pressure on with Damon Allen firing one home, with assists going to Gibbings and Mitch McNichol. Richmond would then break in all alone to score another and seal the win. Both teams goalies need to be credited with keeping their teams in the games. With the win the a game 5 matchup was set for Sunday afternoon.

Both teams came to play and wanted to continue their season.  End to end action saw a geat game develop. Finally Blyth's, Jared Shearer, would start the scoring action, unassisted, at the end of the first. Blyth would then add 3 more in second, with goals from Damon Allen, Ethan Coultes, and Parker Gibbings, to take a 4 goal lead. Assists being credited to Michaela Rodger with 2, Bailey Bos and Gibbings with singles. Not to give up, the Brussels team would then charge back with 3 of their own to get back in the game at 4-3. The third period was tense for both teams, and some chances at both ends of the ice, being turned away by the goalies. Finally, with 39 seconds to go, Blyth's, Drew VanWyk, would seal the victory with the final goal of the game. Final score was 5-3 for Blyth, and Blyth takes the series at 3 games to 2.
