Harriston Hockey Tournament A Success!
The Blyth Senior Tykes travelled to participate in the Harriston tournament on Sunday, March 9th.  The team played very well together, leading to 2 wins and 1 loss.

The first game was played against Listowel #1 team.  Scoring began early in the period when Damon Allen slipped one in past the goalie.  Drew Van Wyk took advantage of the oppritunity to score the next goal when he had a break away.  Bailey Bos assisted Carson Richmond to bring the team to a 3 - 1 lead.  Parker Gibbings celebrated with his team mates after scoring the fourth goal.  Carson Richmond helped Bailey Bos to score the next goal.  The final goal was passed from Parker Gibbings and then tapped into the net by Collin Howson, for a final score of 6 - 1.

The team played a very strong second game against the Listowel team #2.  Goal scorers were Drew Van Wyk with 2 goals, Damon Allen and Parker Gibbings, each with one goal.  Mason Campbell attempted to put more points on the board with a goal that did make it across the line, however the referee decided not to count it.  Assists were made by Ethan Coultes, Mitch McNichol, Michaela Rodger and Bailey Bos.  Jake Gulutzen was solid in goal.

The third game was a nail bitter!  The team played their best against their main rivals, the Seaforth Stars.  The Stars started out by scoring a goal, shortly followed by a goal from our own, Drew Van Wyk.  Seaforth then took a 3-1 lead, but it wasn't long before Damon Allen and Jared Shearer scored to tie it up.  Michaela Rodger was skating hard on a break away and read to score when a player from the other team tripped her mid-stride.  The Stars ended up scoring one last goal for the win, but our team kept them on their toes right up to the last second.  Once again, Jake Gulutzen play very well in net.  Seaforth had many shots on our net, but between the fast acting defense and Jake's skills between the pipes, they managed to keep the puck out most of the time.

To the players...
The coaches are VERY proud of you for the energy and effort you put into each game in Harriston!  Everyone showed that they can play hard and very well as a team.  Keep up the good work!

A special thanks goes out to all of the friends and family members who came out to support and encourage the players.  Perhaps, it was partly your presence that made the kids play the best that they had all year!

Also, thanks to Minto Minor Hockey for hosting a great year end tournament!
