Pee Wee Girls End Season
The WOAA Pee Wee girls year end tournament was held in Blyth from Thursday, March 27 until Sunday, March 31, 2008.  With 22 teams in 3 divisions, the arenas in Blyth and Wingham on Saturday were busy with teams vying for their respective championships.

The Blyth Ice Dogs had their first game in the White Division on Friday night against a very strong Saugeen Shores team who eventually won the White Division title.  The girls held their own through 3 periods but eventually lost the game with a score of 0 – 4.  This loss put them through to the Consolation side against Kincardine HL on Saturday afternoon. The girls came out strong and defeated their opponent by a score of 4-1 giving them the chance to play in the Consolation final on Sunday afternoon against Goderich.    The girls knew it would be a tough battle against a strong opponent but came out strong and were up 2-0 until Goderich evened the score.  Blyth gained the lead again but Goderich eventually tied it up to force an overtime period.  There was a lot of back and forth action with many spectators on their feet but a fluky shot in the Blyth end had the puck flipping over the netminder giving Goderich the win.  The girls were gracious in their defeat and the people in the stands let them know they were still winners with a strong round of applause.  The hockey season is now over for the Pee Wee girls and they are looking forward to a great season again next year.
